But once the game begins the characters find they are unable to log out, and are trapped in the game! If they wish to be free and log out of the game, players must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life! As the game's 10,000 players try to work their way to the end, a skilled player named Kirito is determined to reach the 100th floor and attain freedom by himself. However he soon finds that in order to reach his goal he is going to need to go against his solo playing instincts and have the help of his friends to face the enemies that stand in his way.
